A Quick Thanks (again)...
This is a collection of my work on animated splash art  (Login Screens) for the PC game "League of Legends" at Riot Games in 2016. Each time players launch the game, the first thing they see is one of these animated digital paintings, which show players what's new in the game. This could mean new characters, events, or skins (cosmetic content for in-game characters), and more. The screens here show my work on new champions and their updates; there are many more awesome screens created by other squads as well.

As you take a look, keep in mind that everything seen below is the result of the great teams and people at Riot Games. The Splash Art team created the awesome illustrations for us to animate, the Motion Graphics team taught me a ton about how/why we animate these, and everyone else put in great feedback to keep making each iteration better.  And countless more people helped create everything else about these characters. So yeah, they all rule, but I'll be trying to tag others who had the heavier hands in the creation of these screens.

Enjoy, and thanks for your support!
Season Start 2016 - Wombo Combo
My Role: All Animation/FX
Splash Team - Suke Su
Music Team - Alexander Temple

Here, we kicked off the season and year with an explosive, exciting team fight screen!
Jhin, the Virtuoso
My Role: All Animation/VFX
Splash Team - Evan Monteiro
Music Team - Edouard Brenneisen

I didn't know it at the time, but Jhin would go on to be one of my favorite champs in the game; 105,000 mastery points on him, and counting! One of my favorite themes as well.
Aurelion Sol, the Star Forger
My Role: Main Animation/VFX
Motion Team - Tim Weiser
Splash Team - Jean Go
Music Team - Jason Willey

The challenge on this screen was definitely the comets; figuring out how to get them to fly around smoothly, loop, and light the scene was a tough one!
Taric, Shield of Valoran
My Role: All Animation/VFX
Splash Team - Josh Smith
Music Team - Edouard Brenneisen

This was a fun screen; There was more 3D than usual involved, with the gems and the cape.
eSports - Mid-Season Invitational 2016
My Role: All Animation/VFX
Splash Team  - Mo Yan
Music Team - Alexander Temple
Taliyah, the Stoneweaver
My Role: Main Animation/VFX
Motion Team - Tim Weiser, Greg Platt
Splash Team  - Evan Monteiro
Music Team - Sebastien Nejand

Creating an endlessly forming rock wall that's flying past into the distance as Taliyah surfs on the ground...definitely one of the most challenging screens to figure out for us! Getting the camera/3d space setup,  adding foreground/background wall systems, and adding details like moving shadows and rocks flying by made it come together in the end though. And now she's one of my favorite champs to play in-game too!
Ryze, the Rune Mage
My Role: Main Animation/VFX
Motion Team - Greg Platt
Splash Team  - Josh Smith
Music Team - Alexander Temple

Ryze struggling get out of bronze V....
Kled, the Cantankerous Cavalier
My Role: Main Animation/VFX
Motion Team - Tim Weiser
Splash Team  - Evan Monteiro
Music Team - Edouard Brenneisen

The contrast of derpiness and rage made this screen fun, especially getting the butterfly up and running!
Yorick, Shepherd of Souls
My Role: All Animation/VFX
Splash Team - Victor Maury
Music Team - Jason Wiley

Experimented with simulated smoke to create the mist cape on this one.
Ivern - the Green Father
My Role:  All Animation/VFX
Splash Team - Evan Monteiro
Music Team - Alexander Temple

This was a fun screen to work on, as it was very unusual. A super peaceful scene, healing a little flower, and adorable animals were a nice change of pace.
Preseason 2016 - Assassins Update
My Role:  All Animation/VFX
Splash Team - Josh Smith
Music Team - Dan Negovan
Sound FX - Sean Balas

Animating Katarina was very different here, as some of the animation was getting closer to 2D rather than motion graphics with the movements we made.
Camille - the Steel Shadow
My Role: All Animation/VFX
Splash Team - Evan Monteiro
Music Team - Sebastien Nejand

We wrapped the year up with Camille, who again was in an unusual and interesting spot, hanging off the side of a building with a tilted camera angle. Had to remind myself to check the gravity direction more than once here!
